If you didn't get a chance to see us last time... we are incredibly excited to invite you to the FOURTH EDITION of „MSG & Friends" which is a monthly event series dedicated to carving out a safer, vibrant space for all performers and artists of Asian heritage. This month's theme is FAMILY BUSINESS.

This space seeks to provide opportunity for representation where there has not been opportunity before to folks of Asian-descent.

We passionately believe in supplying an interdisciplinary space where our voices can be heard in order to contribute to the further deconstruction of harmful racist narratives that still surround the Other, that is the Asian body.

Lebur: An audio visual performance by Ghaliz in collaboration with Raras Umaratih
In this performance, we re-examine the artefacts in our life to see what has changed and what has not. Some objects are irreplacable, such as rice cooker, Indomie packets, and flip flops. Others are obtained in our journeys as foreigners starting a new life in Berlin and in Germany - such as shopping carts and winter clothes. “Lebur” in Indonesian means "to dissolve” or "to become one." Through noise and live video performance, we weave a personal narrative and explore a fluid relationship between our Indonesian backgrounds and our lives in Germany.

SiJo: A half Indonesian, half German (singer-)songwriter that tries to capture the stories of the people closest to him in his music. Voluntarily moving around, back and forth from the two countries since childhood, he found that by expressing himself through the stories of others, he would find bits of himself lost on the move. Nevermind cultural differences and life circumstances, somehow he tries to find the lowest common denominator within the issues and stories of people.
